KKR mentor Gautam Gambhir doffed his hat to RCB and the character they showed in the thriller in Kolkata on April 21, Sunday. Gambhir was pictured ahead of the game having a chat with Virat Kohli as both men continued their bromance this season. KKR had to dig deep to get the win against RCB, who fought till the very end.
Karn Sharma had seemingly put RCB in the driver’s seat after hitting 3 sixes off Mitchell Starc in the final over, but the Aussie bowler held his nerve in the end to get the 1-run win for KKR. After the win, Gambhir took to X to congratulate RCB for the character they showed during the match to fight till the very end.
“Phenomenal display of character by RCB today!” tweeted Gambhir after the game.
What happened in the KKR vs RCB game?
On Sunday, KKR had posted 222 runs in their 20 overs, thanks to a fifty from Shreyas Iyer and a 14-ball 48 from Phil Salt at the top. Narine had an off day with the bat while the likes of Andre Russell, Ramandeep Singh and Rinku Singh to get the side to the total in the end.
The RCB innings started with a bit of controversy at the beginning as Virat Kohli was dismissed in bizarre fashion, much to the anger of the RCB star. Will Jacks and Rajat Patidar had seemingly given RCB the advantage before Russell broke the game by dismissing both men in the same over.
