Former India head coach Ravi Shastri heaped praise on Yuzvendra Chahal for picking up 200 wickets in the history of the Indian Premier League (IPL). Chahal got the wicket of Mohammad Nabi to etch his name in the history of the T20 league.

Chahal tossed one up and Nabi only managed to hit the ball straight back to the bowler. Chahal completed a simple catch to reach the landmark. In the previous edition of the IPL, he went past the legendary Dwayne Bravo to become the leading wicket-taker in the T20 tournament.

Shastri, in the meantime, lauded Chahal for the “terrific feat” and also paid tribute to his consistency over the years in the IPL.

Shastri took to ‘X’ and wrote, “Well Done CHAHAL on a terrific feat. 200 is no mean achievement. Plenty more to come. Tribute to your consistency over the years. God bless.”

Yuzvendra Chahal: Sultan of Wickets

Former South African cricketer AB de Villiers referred to Chahal as the ‘King of bowling’ in the IPL. Chahal and De Villiers played together for the Bengaluru team

De Villiers wrote, “Yuzvendra Chahal! The king of bowling in the IPL. Number 1.”

PBKS skipper Shikhar Dhawan congratulated Chahal, writing, “Congrats @yuzi_chahal bro for becoming the Sultan of Wickets in IPL with 200 wickets! Keep spinning those magic balls and making us proud!”

Chahal did not have the best of times in the game against MI. Although he picked up his 200th wicket, he finished with expensive figures of 4-0-48-1. Chahal is currently trying his heart out to make a strong case for himself for the T20 World Cup 2024 to be played in the West Indies and the United States of America (USA).
