LSG chipped in with a witty praise for Marcus Stoinis, who played a stupendous knock and helped his team beat CSK by 6 wickets in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 match on Tuesday, April 23 at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. Stoinis raced his way to scoring 124 runs off 63 balls. On the back of his knock, laced with 13 fours and 6 sixes, LSG tracked down 211 and recorded the highest successful run-chase in IPL history at the Chepauk.

With Lucknow needing 17 runs to win off the last over, Stoinis took the attack to Mustafizur Rahman and guided the Super Giants past the finish line. After the heroics from the Australian cricketer, LSG had a special praise for him, which is related to former CSK skipper MS Dhoni. The Super Giants took to their official ‘X’ account and wrote, “MS FINISHES OFF IN STYLE IN CHENNAI!”
‘Ebb and flow’
Following his knock, Stoinis said that LSG had plans in mind against certain bowlers. He also lauded Nicholas Pooran and Deepak Hooda for helping him out in the death overs at a stage when the required run rate was climbing at an alarming rate.
“It is not just go go go. It was ebb and flow. There were some bowlers we targeted, some against whom we were cautious. Nicky P played a good innings, Hooda also. It ebbed and flowed. From the inside you are always structuring. You are liking some bowlers, not liking others much,” Stoinis said after the match.
After the win, the Super Giants moved to fourth in the table with 10 points and a net run rate of +0.148 with wins in 5 out of 8 matches. LSG will next be up against Rajasthan on April 27 at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium, Lucknow.
